ABOUT ME

I am a figurative painter working in acrylic, oil watercolor and glass. I paint domestic, urban and pastoral scenes encountered close to home and during extensive travelling. Always representational, my work covers a wide range of subject matter and approach, including still life, object studies and rural and urban  landscapes.

 

I favor bold compositions, often employing close crops that emphasize the inherent pattern within my chosen subject, encouraging the viewer to imagine the wider scene beyond the edge of the painted canvas and be transported to the sights and sounds of the original location. Recent bodies of work have translated my experiences in the streets of New York City, Argentina, Shanghai, Australia and my own neighborhoods in Toronto and Warkworth, Canada. I have exhibited extensively and am currently working on several private landscape and architecture painting commissions.
